Leaving Email on Server
Effective January 1, 2003, we will be monitoring the amount of mail left on
the server. In order to continue providing excellent service, we will be implementing
this limit of 50 mb of mail that can be left on the server.
In the event that your mail goes over this 50 mb limit, we will move the older
mail, and in order to access it, you will need to contact us. In addition, mail
on the server that is more than 90 days old will be moved as well. Note that
nothing will be lost or rejected, simply moved to another location.
There are many different ways to keep your mail account from building up to
a huge level:
- Do not "Leave Mail on Server" if you use an email client (Outlook Express,
Outlook, Eudora, etc.) to read your mail, make sure that the setting "leave
mail on server" is not checked. If you need assistance with this, please feel
free to check our support documents below, send us
an email or call us.
- Delete mail in Web Mail Interface - if you use our web mail interface to
read your email, make sure to delete the old mail after it has been read.
- Subscribe to our Spam/Virus Filtering - subscribing to our spam/virus filtering
($2 per month) can greatly reduce spam, and the virus protection can save your
system from even the newest of malicious viruses. "Spam" (unsolicited email)
has had a 600 percent increase on the Internet as calculated by industry experts
by May of 2002, over May of 2001.
- Change user name - spammers sometimes send bulk mail to "easy" or dictionary
email addresses, (mike@, steve@, jen@, info@, etc.), so if you change your user
name to mike123@, this will make it a bit more difficult for spammers to send
junk email to you.
