1. Why do I keep getting duplicate E-mails?
A large message is blocking your mail from coming in. For example: if you have 20 messages and start downloading them, you get 10 of them, then it gets stuck on number 11. If you cancel the download, then next time you check for mail, it will try to download all 20 messages again. You must download all your messages in order for it to delete them from the server.
Solution: Log into your account using web mail. Look for any file that is excessively large, and delete that file. You should then have no trouble receiving all your messages.

2. How can I stop Microsoft Outlook from downloading multiple copies of my messages?
You will need to download service packs for your Office version from the Office Download center, at http://office.microsoft.com/Downloads/default.aspx.
You will see in the center of the screen two pull down menus. One will be entitled Product: and the other Version:. Leave the Product Category on Office and change the Version to whichever Office package you have. (It should tell you that when you open up a program within the Suite. It should say something like Word 2000 if it is 2000 or Word 2002/xp if it is XP). Select your version and a list of downloads will appear below. (You may need to click the button labeled Update to refresh the list.) Locate the downloads that say Service Pack X (X being the number of the Service pack) and download those. Don't worry about ones that have Service Pack X and then something after it like (SP-2) for MultiLanguage support etc. Just download the ones that say Service Pack X.
This should solve your multiple email issue.

3. Relaying Denied
When sending mail, you get an error 550 relaying denied. If this happens, it usually means that you are dialing up through some other internet service provider, but have our e-mail settings in your computer. You will need to put in the outgoing mail server of the ISP you are using to dial in with.

4. My E-mail is getting bounced to a certain user.
If someone is trying to send an E-mail to a user on our system and it is getting bounced back, look at the bounced E-mail.
If you can't see what is wrong from the bounced email, email it to us at support@eclectechs.com and we'll be happy to take a look.

5. How do I stop all this junk mail from coming in?
You can setup E-mail filters. The instructions for this are at http://www.eclectechs.com/filters.html
Never give out your E-mail address to a web site that sells them to other companies.
In addition, all of the below activities may, often will, generate junk mail to your account:
- Having your email address used in a mailto, that is a link on a web page to your mail account. There are now many "robots" or "spiders" which randomly search web pages for email addresses and add them to their list.
- Having your email address used to register a domain name. This gets it into the Network Solutions database which is subject to the robots as noted above.
- Posting in Usenet, or newsgroups.
- Posting to a message board, email discussion group, or similar activity that archives email addresses.
- Last but definitely not least, using the email address for a web site login (amazon, buy.com, etc) where you are inputting your full email address into a submission box.
Similiar to both 4 & 5, we have seen instances where one has joined a closed online message board that requires email authentication, and in some cases less than 5 minutes later - receipt of spam to that address!
We offer the latest in spam filtering. This service will significantly decrease the amount of spam users receive, as "spammers" are getting more creative and finding ways to make junk email difficult to block. In addition to this service, we also offer virus protection. The cost for these optional services is an additional $2.00 per month.

6. Every time I check my E-mail, I get disconnected.
Your email program may be set to disconnect you ("hanging up") after sending/receiving mail. This setting can be found under "Options" in both Outlook Express and Eudora; uncheck it to disable this feature.
Note: Outlook Express is well known for rechecking this setting. If everything has been working fine, but all of a sudden you can't send anything and are losing your conntection, go to the Tools menu and open up Options. Click on the Connection tab at the top. Under Dial-up, one of the checkboxes will say "Hang up after sending and receiving". Make sure this setting is not checked.
